The first sale of the season: Thursday, September 1st from 9am - 4pm. (although I will send another reminder)
We have so many great changes in store this season. Some of us have been working on them all summer in the very hot, very un-air conditioned house! Just to prove how hot it really is I have included the remains of my rubber chicken, who used to hold keys around his neck. As you can see he melted... yes, melted in two. (Reason #46 that we don't stay open in the summer).
Back to our exciting changes. Change Number One: We are so excited to announce that we are re- opening the Children's Room run by Hephzibah Children's Association. It has been 3 long years since the law passed stating children's clothes cannot be resold due to possibly high levels of lead found in zippers and snaps. In 2009, manufacturers began testing their products for lead in order to sell them. So we can now accept children's clothing manufactured after 2009. Clothes will be brand names only, in excellent condition with no missing buttons, stains or tears. Donations that do not conform to our standards will be recycled.
Change Number Two: We have combined 3 rooms of women's clothing to two rooms. Women's Career (in the front left corner of the house) has been combined with Women's Casuals (middle of the house on the first floor). So how is this good news for you, you ask yourself? We have created a new room, which will be run by Thrive Counseling Center of Oak Park called The Dollar Room. As you can probably guess from the name, everything will be... One dollar.
We will also have some great updates made in our Shoe Department on the second floor. Oak Park-River Forest Day Nursery will now be running this room.
We look forward to seeing you September 1st. Don't forget to donate and tell your neighbors to do the same. Donations benefit local Oak Park charities.
